How To Organize Your Modern Wedding

Multi-tasking comes easily to you. You always have your life under control. That is until you began to plan your wedding. No matter how good you are, a wedding is a monumental task.

To plan a wedding you have to contact different business people in different companies and coordinate their arrival. If one of these key players in the wedding fails, the domino effect will begin. So how do you rope this in and ensure you have your dream wedding?

Time to call in the team

A wedding planner is a must. Even wedding planners hire a wedding planner when they plan a wedding. You have enough to do to keep you running. Let the wedding planner do what she does and you have time to iron out the details.

Next, you need to contact a dress supplier like Azazie. You may need traditional bridesmaid dresses in a color like baby blue or blush pink, or you may want an elegant bridesmaid color like champagne or black. Azazie can accommodate you. They are there to serve you, so just reach out to them. They are unique in that they will let you pay a small (really small) deposit and send bridesmaids dresses to you to try on at home. You can save a lot of time and money taking advantage of online services. The sooner the bridesmaid dresses are out of the way, the more you can focus on you.

Define Bridesmaid

Somewhere along the line, brides became confused about the duties of their bridesmaids. Your bridal party is made up of people you love and respect, who are willing to help you pull your wedding together.

This doesn’t mean they are to be treated like hired help. Nor does it mean they are to ignore their own responsibility to help you. Make your selections carefully. If one of your maids in waiting has young children, you cannot expect her to have time to run errands for you.

Assign duties

Remember to be kind, thoughtful, and polite. Remember to thank them when they have taken their time and effort for you. The function of a bridesmaid is to attend to the needs of the bride. While the majority of the duties fall on the maid of honor, each member of the bridal party should be willing to assist. Whether that means mailing invitations, arranging flower donations to a nursing home after the wedding, or picking up your shoes from the mall. Ask your bridesmaids to help you and assign them duties as they have time to help.

Being organized for your wedding is not just a good thing, it is a critical thing. The organized bride has everything she needs at hand when she needs it. She is not searching for a necessary item that slipped her mind.

Be organized, but cut yourself some slack. If some little something goes wrong, you have two choices, laugh it off or ruin the honeymoon screaming and crying. The second option usually doesn’t end well. Life isn’t perfect, but you can be perfectly happy with a little effort.

Business

Treat the preparations for your wedding like a business. Keep a binder with contracts, rental agreements, recipes, and names with phone numbers. Make sure you have all of the dates, times, and names of people you are dealing with.

If something happens to you like an illness or unexpected trip, someone can pick up the binder and know exactly where you are with wedding plans.

Being organized for your wedding is critical. You only get one shot at this eventful day. Good or bad, it cannot be redone. So work with your people and keep your finger on the wedding pulse. You will earn the perfect wedding of your dreams.

A Twist on St. Patty’s Day Events

Our friends at the Prevention Coalition wanted us to get the word out about other fun options for St. Patrick’s Day. No matter your choice, please be safe and make wonderful memories!

Enjoying St. Patrick’s Day in Different Ways

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone wants to spend St. Patrick’s Day chugging booze ‘til they drop. Some people may be faced with overcoming addiction, while others have small children and would rather spend the day doing family-oriented activities. Even though it may seem like celebrating the Irish holiday without liquor is impossible, it can be done! Here are a few ways you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day minus the alcohol –and potential hangover!

Patrick’s Day Events

Sober St. Patrick’s Day is a non-profit organization that was founded by award-winning theatre producer WIlliam Spencer Reilly, after he almost lost a family member to addiction in 2004. This family-friendly event comprises of acts from world class musicians, singers and dancers who all gather to celebrate Irish culture. Each year Sober St. Patrick’s Day is held on parade day in New York City, though it is growing vastly across the world. Philadelphia, Richmond, VA and even Dublin have all joined in on the fun by hosting Sober St. Patrick’s Day events. If you live in a city that has not yet caught onto this rapidly growing trend, fret not! You can be the one to organize your city’s very first Sober St. Patrick’s Day event! For a nominal licensing fee you will receive permission to use the Sober St. Patrick’s Day name and you will be provided support to plan, market and fund the event! Why not take part in a new St. Patrick’s Day tradition that will provide a fun, healthy and safe environment for everyone involved?

Plan an Irish-themed dinner party

Nothing honors the tradition of the Irish more than a good, home-cooked meal. When it comes to traditional Irish food, many people confuse it with Irish-American dishes i.e. corned beef and cabbage. Get into the true spirit of the holiday by researching food that those native to Ireland actually enjoy indulging in and learn how to prepare it! A quick online search will steer you in the right direction for any recipes you may need. Dishes like lamb stew (Irish stew) and soda bread are a few old-fashioned favorites for the Irish. Allow yourself plenty of time to plan for your dinner party, and be sure to do a test run on all the foods you will be serving. You will thank yourself for this step should any dishes not turn out as planned! Make your home festive by decorating with a few St. Patrick’s Day-themed pieces. After dinner, get the kids and adults together to participate in a few Irish games! The best thing about hosting a dinner party in lieu of St. Patrick’s Day is that it can easily become a family tradition. Each year have the party at your home or assign a different friend or family member to host at their place.

Be of service

Even though you are opting to not spend your St. Patrick’s Day drinking, chances are you have a few friends that are looking forward to having an all day boozefest. Assure that your friends are drinking responsibly by offering to be their designated driver. By serving as a safe ride you will be given peace of mind knowing that your loved ones are out of harm’s way and in return, they will be grateful that you are concerned about their safety. Signing yourself up to be the designated driver for your friends is a very noble deed that is an extremely selfless way to spend St. Patrick’s Day.

In the past, you may have felt excluded in the St. Patrick’s Day festivities because of your choice to stay sober. Fortunately, you can start new traditions that are true to your values and begin to enjoy the day just as much as others!

Best Tips for Organizing Your Dream Wedding

1. Set a Budget: Everyone has a budget and this will help determine all the other aspects of your wedding.

2. Guest List: Before choosing a venue, you need to know approximately how many people you wish to invite to your wedding. Make sure to include both the bride and groom’s family wishes.

3. Choose a Wedding Date: The wedding date can depend a lot on the wedding venue and whether it’s a destination wedding or a wedding in town.

4. Choose the Ceremony and Reception Venue: Most venues get booked months (if not years) in advance.  Make sure your venue can accommodate your guest list. If your reception is at a different location than the ceremony, you need to coordinate the time so that the venue is available after the ceremony.

Planning your wedding as early as possible will allow you to get the items (especially the venues) that you want.  It can also allow you to receive great discounts.

Wedding Rings

What’s the importance of a wedding ring and why you should wear it?

There is real no record when the wedding ring started but some believe that the oldest recorded exchange of wedding rings comes from ancient Egypt, about 4800 years ago. Sedges, rushes and reeds, growing alongside the well-known papyrus were twisted and braided into rings for fingers an other decorative ornaments worn by the women in those days.

The Romans adopted it soon after giving it to both the man and woman for a sign of strength permanence.

There a lot of different theories of why the left hand and why we wear them. But, in today’s world there are reasons that you should wear them. Before we get into those, a little personal story of how this ring blog came up.

As many know, I am divorced. WHAT?!?? Story stopper….an event and wedding planner that is divorced? I know, right! haha. I never wanted a divorce, especially with children, unfortunately it was the hand I was dealt and I try to make the best out of it for my kids and I. I am still an amazing event and wedding planner. My divorce has nothing to do with my skills, abilities and I hope one day that I find a wonderful man that can love my kids and I. Until then, I plan dreams and memories.

But, there was more to the point of tell you this. I was doing my estate planning and wanted to give my guns to my son and my wedding ring to my daughter. I noticed my ring was gone! I was devastated, I still am. I love my wedding ring! It is absolutely gorgeous and I wanted to give it to my daughter one day. My reason for telling you this is make sure your rings are fully insured so that if something like this happens, you can replace it. I know replacing it is not the same as the original but at least you didn’t lose such an expensive memory.

Back to the reasons that you should wear a ring in today’s world:

1. Wearing your ring in public shows the world that you value your spouse and the covenant of your marriage.

2. Wearing your ring even when alone, because it reminds you that everything you do, whether in public or in private, doesn’t affect only you but your spouse as well.

3. Wearing your rings together when it’s just the two of you, has a visual symbol of your past promises, your present blessings and your shared destiny for the future.

Cherish your time together as you never know when it’s your last.

We Are Back with Themed Events!

It’s been a while since we blogged and we need to do a better job in 2016. We would like to make this blog about helpful event tips and the life of an event planner.

As you may or may not know, Kimmylea is the owner of LimeLight Expressions and she is a single mother of 4 year-old twins. Juggling twins, a company and daily tasks are not always easy and we are here to share experiences with you.

For our first blog back, we’d like to discuss, ‘Themed Events’. Did you know that a theme is included in any event or wedding, even if it’s just a color. We can also take your specific theme in mind and make your vision come true.

We had a bride come to us wanting a Dr. Who themed wedding. Her and her finance just love Dr. Who. We themed everything from their custom invitations (created and designed by us) to their reception and made it into a Dr. Who wonderland. What do you think of themed events and weddings? Give us your feedback.

Let us put you in the LimeLight for your event or wedding and support a locally, family owned company.

Planning for the Holidays

christmas

When planning any event, there is a laundry list of items to consider, and that list may get even longer when you are planning something for your co-workers or corporate clients, especially during the busyness of the Holiday season. One very important task of planning your to-do list is choosing the right people to assist in your holiday party planning process.

When choosing companies to assist in your holiday party needs, always think local first. Not only do you support the local community but also you have the added benefit of having better customer service. They can meet face-to-face as well as get you your product or service more efficiently.

One local company that can make your holiday party planning a little less stressful is LimeLight Expressions. They are a family-owned and operated, based in Omaha, NE. They can assist you with everything from invitations to décor or your full on event planning needs from start to finish, so you can enjoy, relax and show your employees, co-workers or clients a wonderful time without all the hassle of planning your event during the holiday season.

A holiday party is to show your appreciation to your employees, co-workers or clients for the hard work or the business they have done with you throughout the year. But, planning a unique holiday party takes good preparation and organization.

LimeLight Expressions is a full service event planning and design company that can put you in the limelight for the holidays with unique party ideas. Want some holiday party ideas that will have your guests talking throughout the years? Consider these:

Entertainment: Creating the right atmosphere for any event is key. Why not create an electrifying atmosphere with a live band or DJ for your holiday party.

Did you know some of the top live bands are right here in Omaha? It’s true! We have unbelievable live bands that will not only create an uplifting atmosphere but will have the dance floor swinging all night long. By supporting a local band, you will not only show your in touch with the local community and are supporting it but you will have the bonus of an impressive corporate image.

If you’re having an employee appreciation holiday party and want a little more of the team-building atmosphere, think of things that will get everyone up and moving around. There are great interactive game shows that can be set up at local venues or even in a home setting. Local scavenger hunts are a great way to not only see the great sites of Omaha but also give employees a time to bond and have some fun.

LimeLight Expressions can assist in all your entertainment needs for your holiday party from disc jockeys, to a live band or full interactive entertainment.

Ice Sculpture: For unique and fun centerpieces or a rare adult beverage dispenser, who doesn’t love a creative ice sculpture? Ice sculptures are a real crowd pleaser and if a sculpture isn’t big enough for you, how about your company logo in ice or an entire bar of ice.

Cook-Off: If involvement is what you seek, then tickle your guests’ taste buds with a little fancy feast.

We have amazing culinary artists in town that are remarkable. Not only can they come in and do a cooking demonstration for you but also you can have your guests participate. It is a fun interactive way to learn new recipes and participate as a group or allow a top chef to cook for your guests.

Flair: Have you ever seen flair bartending or flairtending? It is a fun way to WOW your guests and get delicious cocktails for the entire evening. It is sure to please all your guests as they juggle, flip and flame through the evening.

Theme: A holiday party theme is a wonderful way to really have fun and get your guests involved. Find a theme that makes it interesting to come to your event.

Everyone loves the ugly sweater parties and winter wonderlands. If your budget allows, allow your home or venue escape to a unique setting of wonder. This is a sure way to make your holiday party different and your guests will be talking about your event for years to come. Plus, the invitations with your one-of-a-kind theme will peak your guests’ interest to mark their calendars right away.

If you want some additional holiday party ideas or want to try one of these suggestions but just not sure where to start, contact LimeLight Expressions to assist in your holiday planning.

The benefits of planning a holiday party are to show your appreciation to your guests and thank them for everything they have done. It really does make a difference for your employees, co-workers or clients but planning can be stressful so call the experts to help you make a truly memorable event.

Create a Budget: Every event has a budget and Holiday parties can get expensive. A budget allows you to stay on track with your projected expenses and compare them to your actual expenses.

Select a Venue: The number of guests that you will be inviting will determine your venue accommodations. The venue should complement your holiday décor vision. Determine if the venue is more accommodating for a buffet-style meal or cocktail service. Holiday parties are often held in a home for that personal touch.  Whether your event will be held in a ballroom or at home, LimeLight Expressions can help you with all the details no matter the size of event.

Theme: A holiday party doesn’t necessarily have to have a theme, as the holidays are a great theme in itself! However, themes help you plan decorations, invitations and even the menu. Holiday themes can range from ugly sweater parties to Winter Wonderlands.

Invitations: Creating the invitations is an important step and sets the entire mood for your event. Paper invitations instead of electronic invitations are such a wonderful touch in today’s technologically savvy world.
